That exchange gets to a real design decision. How much variation makes a publication lively, and how much makes it look assembled from unrelated images? Choose the rules that readers should stop noticing
For the worked essay, use an ivory page, a six-column grid, one body typeface, one display face and a consistent outer margin. Set one caption treatment and one place for the folio. These repeated decisions let the illustrations vary without changing the reading system.
Ask Astra to write the page plan from supplied, checked notes about the studio. It should separate facts, captions and illustration requests. An attractive page cannot repair invented quotations or an inaccurate process description. Keep the final prose outside the generated image so it can be corrected and translated.
Give each spread a different editorial job
The opener can be image-led; the process spread needs room for sequential explanation. The close-up should reward attention to texture, while the ending returns to the people or purpose of the story. A repeated full-bleed hero on every spread would flatten those differences.
Before generating artwork, sketch the image areas as simple rectangles. Review the four layouts together. You should see a deliberate rhythm of large and small images, with stable margins and caption placement.

Approve an image pair before commissioning the issue

Our chosen break is the third spread: one enlarged ink texture replaces the smaller process images. It gives the reader a pause after the sequence. The grid still controls the caption, margins and folio. The exception changes emphasis without discarding the publication’s identity.
Compare the spread with its neighbors in a contact sheet and at reading size. The contact sheet exposes style drift; reading size exposes tiny text and awkward line lengths. If a page only looks coherent when reduced, the editorial system still needs work.

Deliver a publication that can be revised
Place the approved illustrations into the editable layout and proof the entire essay. Keep image references, exact captions and source notes with the project. If the essay moves into another language, let the copy reflow rather than shrinking it until it fits an English-shaped box.
